Knotted Roots Blog Tour

Partying with friends and scoring a flawless tan is about all Roxie has on her list of things to make her Hampton's summer perfect.
Her parents, however, have other plans and Grandma Betty's farm is just one of them.
Just as her life is in shambles and the quaint town is suffocating her, she meets Chase.
Somewhere in the mix of bummer summer and small town doldrums, he becomes the boy she can't seem to avoid falling for. Just adding him to the picture, her stay starts to get better, even if she knows it has to end with the summer holidays.
That is until Betty drops a life-shattering bomb.
Roxie must make a choice that will change her life forever. What happens when a spoiled brat from New York learns the true meaning of love, loss, and forgiveness?
Can Chase and Roxie find a way to be together or is this just another summer romance?

Ruthi Kight currently lives in her hometown of Columbia, SC, with her fiancé and five year old daughter. She has an unhealthy addiction to books, music, and chocolate, but not necessarily in that order.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW
1.       What made you want to become an author?
I have always had a love for books.  When I was younger, I used to write all the time.  Tons and tons of journals.  I still have a lot of them.  So I decided to give writing a book a chance.  I think it has turned out pretty well so far.

  2.       What is your favorite genre to write?
So far, I haven’t ventured too far from the YA/Contemporary genre. But my new book, Burn Out, was by far the most fun to write. It is NA, with strong language and adult content. I was really able to let loose with that one, in ways that I wasn’t able to in Knotted Roots or Hidden Falls.

  3.    Is there going to be another book in the series?
Hidden Falls is a quick novella that follows Knotted Roots. I’m currently working on the second full length book in the series, which should be out later this year.

  4.       Do you have a favorite place to write at?
On the couch, lol.  I can pop my feet up, turn the music on, and just get down to business.  I need to be comfortable and that’s the most comfortable place in the house.

  5.       What gives you inspiration to write?
There are a lot of different things.  Music is a huge influence.  I first got the idea for Knotted Roots while listening to Hunter Hayes’ Wanted.  Then I found the rest of that album and the scenes just seemed to flow.  Life experiences are a huge influence as well.  People in my life, things that have happened...they all play a big part.

  6.       How did the Characters come to you?
The characters are all loosely based on people I know in real life.  I took bits and pieces of those that I love and created whole new people.  Roxie holds a special place in my heart though.  She reminds me a lot of myself when I was her age.

  7. What do you like to drink? Coffee or Tea? Or Both?
I may be from the South, but I don’t drink tea, lol. I drink a ton of coffee though.  Probably about 5 cups a day now.  If I didn’t, I’d be a walking zombie.

  8.       Who is your favorite Author?
It’s clichĂ©, but I have always loved Jane Austen.  I have read Pride and Prejudice at least 20 times, lol.  I studied literature a lot during school, so there is a deep love there of classic literature.

  9.       Do you have any Animals?
Not anymore. We had a cat named Charlie, who I loved, but he passed earlier this year. He was my tubby buddy and no animal can every replace him.

  10.   What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
I like to spend time with my family, listen to music, and clean.  (Weird, I know)  I relax by cleaning the house.  That’s how everyone in my house knows when I’m stressed.  If I’m cleaning, RUN! LOL I also love to read.  It’s my addiction.  That, and make metal bookmarks. I’m constantly doing something.

When her dream of being a rock star didn't work out, she focused on her other passion: writing. She is the author of Knotted Roots, a YA Coming of Age story, and is currently working on two other novels that are due out this year.
